СпутникиРНSpaceXРоскосмосNASAThree Genesee County municipalities will receive a combined $8.2 million in state grants for water and sewer projects, including new water districts in Le Roy, Alexander and Pembroke.The awards are part of nearly $500 million in grants Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Oct. 19 for 106 drinking water and sewer projects statewide.“Investing in water infrastructure is an investment in the future of every New Yorker,” Hochul said.The Town of Alexander received the largest local award, $4,609,454, for Phase 1 of Water District No. 7.The Town of Pembroke was awarded $2,043,410 for the Pratt Road Water District No. 5.The Village of Le Roy will receive $1,513,750 for Phase 4 of its wastewater treatment facility project, which covers sludge handling and disposal.The three Genesee County projects are among 14 awarded in the Finger Lakes region.The grants are the first installment of Hochul’s $3.75 billion clean water commitment in the 2027 enacted state budget, according to the state Environmental Facilities Corp. The 106 projects statewide total $1.4 billion.The EFC estimated the grants will save communities $1 billion in debt service they would otherwise have paid to finance the projects on their own, based on current market conditions. The projects are expected to create 22,400 jobs in construction, engineering, manufacturing and local services.“My administration will continue ensuring communities have the financial support and tools they need to protect public health and safeguard our natural resources while keeping these critical investments affordable,” Hochul said.
