The Cerebral Palsy Research Network invites you to join us on October 22, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. ET for the third webinar in our genetics education series, Genetic Causes of CP Webinar #3 in partnership with Baylor Genetics.

Over the past decade, advances in genetic testing have transformed our understanding of cerebral palsy. Researchers now recognize that genetic differences may contribute to a significant number of cases of CP, helping families and clinicians better understand underlying causes, identify associated health conditions, and inform future care. As genetic discoveries continue to reshape the field, access to accurate information has never been more important for individuals with CP, families, clinicians, and researchers.

About The Speaker

Siddharth Srivastava, MD, is a pediatric neurologsit at Boston Children’s Hospital

This webinar will feature Dr. Siddharth Srivastava, a physician-scientist at Boston Children’s Hospital and one of the leading researchers investigating the genetic causes of cerebral palsy. Dr. Srivastava has authored one of the landmark manuscripts in this area of research and was recently awarded funding through the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to conduct a major study focused on genetics and cerebral palsy. During this session, he will discuss what researchers have learned about the role of genetics in CP, how genetic testing is changing clinical practice, and where the field is headed next.

Joining the discussion will be Beth Loell, who is the mother of five-year-old Lily, who was diagnosed with Gould Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder, after presenting with symptoms of cerebral palsy in infancy. Lily’s diagnosis informed the likely cause of medical complications that her now three-year-old sister Thea experienced in utero, and Thea was ultimately diagnosed with the same disorder shortly after birth. Beth will share a family perspective on the genetic testing journey and the importance of obtaining answers that can help guide care, support, and future planning.

The CP Research Network thanks Baylor Genetics for sponsoring this webinar.

As part of this sponsored webinar, participants will also hear from Margo Gallegos, Senior Medical Science Liaison at Baylor Genetics. Margo will provide an overview of Baylor Genetics’ testing and genetic counseling programs and share information about resources that may be available to families seeking genetic evaluation.

Who Is This Webinar For?

Whether you are a person with CP, a family member, healthcare professional, researcher, or community advocate, this webinar will provide an opportunity to learn from experts, hear a family perspective, and better understand how genetics may help answer important questions about cerebral palsy.

As with all CP Research Network webinars, the presentation will conclude with 15–20 minutes of live Q&A, giving participants the opportunity to ask questions directly of the speakers. A recording of the webinar will be posted within 24 hours on our YouTube channel for those who are unable to attend live.

We hope you will join us for this important conversation as we continue exploring the evolving science of genetics and its implications for the cerebral palsy community.
