The Naked Cowboy was menaced by an unhinged creep just days after a fatal Times Square stabbing just blocks away.

Video obtained by The Post reveals a deranged man — and definitely no country music fan — harassing the beloved Big Apple fixture, lunging and cursing at the cowboy crooner for 30 minutes and following him from block to block as he tried to escape on Thursday.

The Naked Cowboy, nee Robert Burck, admitted that he’s on edge after Monday’s fatal stabbings in Times Square, his home base of 27 years. Robert Miller for NY Post

“You just hope they don’t kill ya,” the Naked Cowboy, whose name is Robert Burck, told The Post after the unnerving encounter. “I’m shaking in my boots but acting calm.”

The man hounded the 55-year-old, barely-dressed Burck, brandishing a scarf “like it’s a whip … like you do with a shower towel,” Burck said, “taunting me by whipping it as close to my face and body as he could.”

A bystander could be heard shouting, “Get your pills” to the agitator, who badgered the legendary street performer as onlookers mostly gawked and filmed.

The disheveled man wearing shorts, a jacket and backpack, spewed insults — “You ain’t no gangster.’”

“The whole time, I’m thinking, ‘He didn’t hit me yet,’ but it got real close. Your heart is beating,” said the city’s beloved cowboy, who’s been strumming his guitar for 27 years at the Crossroads of the World.

“It took a half hour to regulate my breathing,” he admitted, adding that he deliberately belted out love ballads to calm the tense situation. “When you’re scared, you do the things you gotta do.”

The skimpy strutter told The Post that he was “taunted” by a foul-mouth menace who followed the beloved street performer for 30 minutes as onlookers gawked and filmed the unsettling incident. Provided to the New York Post

After being shaken up over Monday’s devastating double stabbing that left 32-year-old Bank of America exec and new mom Erin Piacenti dead, Burck said he’s not taking any chances.

“Most people are not going to harm ya. But obviously with the stabbing and all of that, you think anything can happen,” he said.

“In light of the circumstances that someone was just killed by a deranged person, I was thinking, ‘is it justifiable to hit him?’”

But even after Monday’s deadly attack, Burck tried not to dwell on disaster scenarios.

“You’re always vulnerable in New York,” he said.
