Almost five months after the deadline, former Gov. Paul LePage’s campaign has submitted the required paperwork to Congress disclosing his personal finances.

The report was due May 15 for all candidates for Congress; the 78-year-old former Maine governor was at that point running unopposed for the Republican nomination for Maine’s 2nd Congressional District. He’s now in a tight general election race against Democratic State Auditor Matt Dunlap, who submitted his disclosure on the day of the deadline.

As The Washington Sun first reported Tuesday, LePage’s failure to tell the clerk of the House of Representatives about his finances violated federal ethics law. Late reporters are subject to a $200 fine, per the disclosure form, and the U.S. attorney general can bring additional civil proceedings against candidates who knowingly and willingly fail to file a financial disclosure, with penalties up to $75,540.

LePage campaign strategist Brent Littlefield did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but members of the campaign told The Sun this week that the “completely unintentional” delay in filing was a “simple oversight” that “slipped through the cracks.”

The disclosure, now publicly available, was received by the House clerk Tuesday, processed Thursday and posted online shortly thereafter.

LePage reported receiving $39,671 in Social Security so far this year and $22,764 from his state pension. His wife, Ann LePage, also received Social Security and wages from her job at Cook’s Landing Pizzeria & Pub in Edgecomb.

That’s not too different from last year’s report, which LePage filed on time: The LePages received about $70,000 in Social Security in 2025, and LePage’s state pension paid him about $30,000.

Listed the same as last year’s filing, too, is the rental property LePage leases in Augusta from Shawn Moody — a LePage ally who ran in the 2018 gubernatorial race. He reported liability of up to $15,000 for the lease.

According to voter registration records, LePage lives in the Augusta apartment above a barber shop near the Augusta Memorial Circle rotary, next door to one of Moody’s collision repair shops.

The financial disclosure notes that the rental agreement began in May 2025, the same month LePage announced his candidacy for Congress.

LePage did not report owning any individual stocks and said he agreed with Dunlap, his competitor, on banning congressional stock trading, in a recent debate.

The only new item in LePage’s assets in this report is an account with an “SCCU,” valued between $1,000 and $15,000. There are four locations of Space Coast Credit Union, commonly abbreviated as SCCU, within a half-hour drive of LePage’s former home in Ormond Beach, Florida.
