Springworks Farm, the once-thriving aquaponics farm in Lisbon that supplied lettuce to grocers across New England, will be sold at auction next month.
Springworks was the exclusive supplier of organic and other lettuce to supermarket chain Hannaford from 2021 until earlier this year.
The farm was also a significant local taxpayer, having paid more than $77,000 in real estate taxes in fiscal year 2026.
According to Tranzon — a nationwide real estate auction company — the Lisbon farm is 168 acres, consisting of two abutting lots, 117,000 square feet of greenhouse growing space, 56,000 square feet of light industrial buildings and all related equipment.
The auction will be held Oct. 23 at 11 a.m.
Lisbon’s director of economic and community development, Ross Cunningham, did not respond to a request for comment on the auction.
Trevor Kenkel, the founder and CEO of Springworks Farm, purchased the farm in June 2014 for $457,500. Efforts to reach him have also been unsuccessful.

Blue Highway Capital and Farm Credit East were listed as investors.
Springworks Farm announced in 2021 that it was the exclusive provider of whole head romaine lettuce to Hannaford in addition to being the exclusive supplier of certified organic green leaf lettuce.
The company also supplied all 184 Hannaford stores with baby romaine lettuce and Boston bibb, plus an assortment of pre-cut products in select stores, including single cut romaine, single cut Boston bibb, and salad mix.
In addition, the farm sold products to Whole Foods, Roche Bros. Supermarkets, Food City, Sysco of Northern New England, Lisbon K-12 schools, and other local institutions.
