Kadokawa and Dwango announced the companies will end support for the Switch version the of app NicoNico on March 31, 2027. Your account and lists will still be available in the browser version even after this date. There’s no news about any Switch 2 version of the app.

NicoNico for the Nintendo Switch was first made available in 2017, meaning that the application has been around for ten years. You will no longer be able to download the app from the eShop from February 28, 2027. After that, the app will be unavailable on March 31, 2027. If you would still like to watch NicoNico videos on a big screen like a TV, you will need to use something like Chromecast or GoogleCast.

To thank Nintendo Switch users of NicoNico, Dwango and Kadokawa Group are launching a campaign to look back on their memories with the app. This campaign is aimed at people who watched NicoNico on their Switch between July 13, 2017 (when the service launched) and February 28, 2027, or people who watched NicoNico on their computer or smartphone between October 1, 2026 and February 28, 2027. Users who fit the above criteria will receive a notification. This notification will contain milestones of your activity, such as the first day you posted a comment or how many times you added a video to your My List. These users will also receive an achievement.

NicoNico will no longer be supported on the Nintendo Switch on March 31, 2027. As an aside, the Switch 2 still does not support the YouTube app, even though the original Switch does.
