Family caregivers throughout the Chattanooga area can find ongoing support and connection through the Caregiver Support Group at The Lantern at Morning Pointe East Hamilton, a monthly resource open to caregivers navigating the many different stages and circumstances of caring for an aging loved one.
"Caregiving can look different for every family," officials said. "Some caregivers may be supporting a loved one who continues to live at home, while others may be helping someone who has moved into senior living or is navigating changing care needs.
Regardless of where a loved one lives or what stage of caregiving a family is experiencing, caregivers can face questions, decisions and challenges along the way."
The support group provides a comfortable setting for caregivers to share experiences, ask questions and connect with others who understand the responsibilities that come with caring for a loved one.
“Every family’s situation is different, and there can be a lot to navigate as a loved one’s needs change,” said Lindsey Justice, executive director of The Lantern at Morning Pointe East Hamilton. “Sometimes having an opportunity to talk with someone who has been through
a similar experience can provide reassurance, a new perspective or simply a reminder that you are not alone.”
The group is open to all family caregivers in the community, whether their loved one lives at home, in senior living or in another care setting. Participants do not need to have a connection to Morning Pointe to attend.
The Caregiver Support Group meets the third Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. in the Lobby Conference Room at The Lantern at Morning Pointe East Hamilton.
