Hi ,
When an app is slow or a video call keeps breaking up, it’s often hard to know where the problem starts. Is it your Wi-Fi, your ISP, the VPN, or just that app?
I’m building AppNetPlotter, an open-source Windows app written in Rust, to help answer that.
It continuously monitors your apps’ existing network traffic to estimate internet stability, without generating separate internet test traffic. It shows response times, connection stability, and upload/download activity over time, so you can see what was happening when the problem occurred.
The goal is to help users understand connectivity problems themselves. When they need help, they can export an HTML report with the recorded history for their IT team to investigate.

It’s still early, and I’d appreciate feedback on whether the explanations are useful, especially with VPNs or multiple network adapters. Feedback on the Rust code and monitoring approach is welcome too.
