Just two WNBA teams remain in the running for the championship: the Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries.

Both the Dream and the Valkyries reached the Finals with decisive sweeps in the semifinals. Led by Angel Reese and Rhyne Howard, the Dream took down the 2024 champion New York Liberty to secure Atlanta’s first Finals berth since 2013. The Valkyries bested the defending-champion Las Vegas Aces, culminating in an 87-77 Game 3 victory.

One of the headlines leading up to the championship series has been around Atlanta’s venue. For a moment, it looked like the Dream’s home games would be played in the 3,500-seat Gateway Center Arena, but luckily, the WNBA and NBA were able to shift schedules to let the Dream host the Valkyries in the 17,000-seat State Farm Arena.
