Before Elizabeth Holmes was sentenced to 11 years in prison for defrauding investors of hundreds of millions of dollars in 2022, she and fiancé Billy Evans welcomed Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim into their home for the production of You Can See Everything. The documentary revealed, among other things, their unique relationship dynamics and gave the world an intimate, and often damning, look at Evans for the first time.

Holmes is the founder and former CEO of Theranos, a blood testing company that Holmes falsely claimed had developed a specialized analyzer that could glean accurate blood test results from a simple finger prick. Federal criminal charges were filed against her in 2018, leading to a lengthy legal process that ended in her conviction on one count of conspiracy to commit fraud on investors and just over 11 months in prison, which began in April 2023.

Through it all, Holmes continued her relationship with Evans and even welcomed two kids with him in 2021 and 2023. She has openly talked about him in interviews, with rumors swirling that they secretly got married (although neither has confirmed).

“Finding your person in the middle of all of this and experiencing that love when you’re going through hell is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever experienced,” Holmes told the New York Times in 2023.

With You Can See Everything in theaters from Oct. 16, here’s what to know about the man who apparently runs Holmes’ X account.

All About Elizabeth Holmes’ Fiancé, Billy Evans

Evans is an MIT graduate with a bachelor’s degree in economics, according to his LinkedIn. He is a hotel heir of the Evans Hotel Group and previously worked at Stealth Startup, LinkedIn, and Luminar Technologies.

What Does Billy Evans Do For Work?

Evans is the CEO of a new diagnostic startup called Haemanthus, which has reportedly raised millions of dollars, per NPR. This startup is allegedly focused on guiding AI to conduct medical tests, including help diagnose ALS and forms of cancer.

“We’re Haemanthus,” the company wrote on X in May 2025. “Yes, our CEO, Billy Evans, is Elizabeth Holmes’ partner. Skepticism is rational. We must clear a higher bar.” In their lengthy statement, the company stated that Holmes has “zero involvement” in the company.

“This is not Theranos 2.0,” the company wrote. “Theranos attempted to miniaturize existing tests. Our approach is fundamentally different. We use light to read the complete molecular story in biological fluids, seeing patterns current tests can’t detect. Not an improvement. A different paradigm. Setting the record straight. Elizabeth Holmes has zero involvement in Haemanthus. We’ve learned from her company’s mistakes, but she has no role, now or future.”

What Is Billy Evans’ Net Worth?

Evans estimated net worth is between $10 million and $25 million, primarily through his family’s hotel business, and his startup company, Haemanthus, per NetlyWorth.

How Did Billy Evans Meet Elizabeth Holmes?

Evans and Holmes met at a house party in San Francisco in 2017, according to the 2023 New York Times interview. “To say we immediately fell in love isn’t an overstatement,” Evans told the New York Times.

In a letter to Holmes’ sentencing judge in 2022, Evans wrote about that fated first meeting. “The rest of the world ceased to exist,” he wrote, per People. “It was strange to feel so comfortable and willing to share with someone who I didn’t know.”

He gushed about how genuine he felt Holmes was. “I was captivated by her childish wonder and authenticity,” he continued. “She listened more intently than anyone I had ever met. We spoke for hours, I lost track of time and even if I didn’t know it…. I fell in love.”

According to Holmes, falling in love during the implosion of her fraud scheme made them grow closer, faster. “It had been two years of all this stuff written about me, and I think you get to know someone in a totally different way when you walk in with that skepticism versus if you meet when everything is sunshine and roses,” Holmes told the New York Times. “That allowed us to get to know each other in a really deep way.”

What Is Billy Evans’ Relationship With Elizabeth Holmes Now?

After dating for a year, Evans proposed to Holmes at Taylor Swift’s “Reputation” concert in 2018. He asked her to marry him with a silver snake ring he bought at the concert, per People.

“I asked him 20 times if he wanted to spend his life with me,” Holmes told People in 2025. “There were a million reasons why not.”

In June 2019, sources told Vanity Fair that Holmes and Evans secretly got married. However, Holmes denied the claim in her 2025 interview with People.

“Maybe we’ll get married someday. But our bond is more than a piece of paper,” she told the outlet. “We bought rings on Amazon before I went to prison,” she added. “It’s just special to me because our love is deep. It’s real.”

When reflecting on the beginning of his relationship with Holmes, Evans told People, “Everyone tried to break us, but instead we forged an unbreakable bond.” He added, “She’s my best friend and soulmate. I believe in her in every way.”

“When I’m with Billy, I feel infinity,” Holmes added. “It’s why I want to fight for love and fight for my family, because I know what it means.”

Does Billy Evans Have Children With Elizabeth Holmes?

Evans has two children with Holmes, a son named William, born in 2021, weeks before her fraud trial began, and a daughter named Invicta (Latin for “Invincible”), born in 2023, just months before her prison sentence began.

Evans often takes the kids to visit their mother in prison, and they have a special ritual. When their visit ends, the kids make a heart sign with their fingers and say, “Mommy, this is our love,” per People. She replies, “Our love is a superpower.”

Speaking to People in 2025, Holmes shared, “I always wanted to be a mother. I truly did not think I would ever be convicted or found guilty.”

And while she struggles with not being able to be with her kids, Holmes doesn’t regret having children.

“It kills me to put my family through pain the way I do,” she told the outlet. “But when I look back on my life, and these angels that have come into it, I can get through anything. It makes me want to fight for all of it.”

Billy Evans Has A Menagerie of Unusual Pets

It’s not just kids that make Evans’ home with Holmes’ children wild — it’s all the animals that live there too. According to Vanity Fair, Evans has a blue Argentine tegu, a corn snake, a curly-haired tarantula, blue death-feigning beetles, and two Burmese forest tortoises as pets.

Is Billy Evans In ‘You Can See Everything’?

The new documentary, “You Can See Everything,” by co-directors Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, is about the month before Holmes was sent to prison. A film crew followed her, Evans, and their children through their lives as she got ready for prison.

At an October 2026 film screening, Oppenheim said that the documentary’s stars have not seen it. “Neither of them have seen the film,” he said, per The Hollywood Reporter. “Elizabeth is still incarcerated; Billy hasn’t seen it.”

The directors also hinted at some tension behind the scenes. According to Fielder, Evans “started trying to exert a level of control over the process that made it very hard to engage with him, and it was uncomfortable for us and also A24 and everyone. And I think we sort of had to stop — I think communication broke down basically, and we’ve been in that like state for a little bit. So it’s been challenging in that way.”

According to Vanity Fair, the documentary portrays Evans as “the movie’s true villain: a smarmy, self-satisfied Svengali figure who sniffs conspicuously and blithely brags about his own prowess in a variety of arenas.”

He has yet to make a statement about the documentary.
