quiet ? too quiet ?
maybe they mostly come out at night ? 😉
I think any hobby / interest has its 500 pound gorilla that somehow manages to be the one thing that dominates.
It can help attract outsiders due to its visibility, but it can also scare folk away as there may be things that they may enjoy more if only they could see it.
And then there’s the convenience factor, which is not to be underestimated if you don’t have the resources (either in money or time) to hunt down the ‘perfect’ thing.
We can try to ignore the elephant in the room, but that doesn’t reduce the impact its shenanigans has on the little ones.
It may simply stomp on the small things without even knowing they exist.
Music that suits the theme :

well… if they only come out at night… i think the only sensible thing to do is nuke them from orbit.

yep … it’s the only way to be sure.
And I’d say for extra security and safety you’d take out the local star as well … can’t have any of that escaping the system.

A 500lb gorilla would be a massive Silverback, a real champ. Above average for sure.
Warhammer is currently that unique primate: accessible, not overly expensive (thanks to other companies raising THEIR prices), and near-universal availability.
One only needs to look at their stock rise: it’s like Apple, frankly. Take that as you will. Their dividend is up there with “boring” but solid stocks like the Canadian big banks. Shocking…

I personally think it just boils down to the fact that “people that enjoy our hobby” is a small and finite number and the amount of games has just exploded in the last years. The player base is sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread. And like it or not G’Wullu is the only internationally widely available game with own stores in almost every mayor city of the first world. So obviously people are caught up in that eco system.

Plan for the weekend is a visit to the Scale Model Challenge event.
I’ve got the bare bones skeleton for my 1:1 scale #Spooktober project done. One small issue is that I really need some glue or something else to hold it upright as some of the fittings were not as tight as I had expected.

I think I’m going to have a look at SMC in Veldhoven too. It’s only a 10 km drive for me. Next weekend I’ll be at Spiel in Essen on Friday and Saturday.
