The Sengoku period was a century of civil war, and for a samurai, chaos meant opportunity. A sharp blade and a proud name were enough to start with, even without a single rice field to call his own. Battles won and favors earned could bring the crowning moment: a fief of his own to rule. Expeditions: Samurai is on that very same path. Act 1, available now in Early Access, and Act 2, which the team is hard at work on right now, cover your early years. Act 3, coming with the full release, is where you rise from warrior and commander to lord or lady of your own village. The latest dev diary from Campfire Cabal gives a first look at your future home – and the people who will live there with you.

Home Is Where the Hatamoto Is
The Expeditions series has had its own approach to camps all the way from Conquistador’s survival challenges to Rome’s legion camp. Expeditions: Samurai goes one step further: from Act 3 on, you get a homestead of your own – a village to build, expand and fill with loyal village people (no singing, no cowboy, no cop, different navy). A quick overview what the village will offer:

• You unlock upgrades by completing quests and inviting followers, not by grinding for resources.
• You talk to your followers instead of clicking through menus, and most of them join your camp on the road.
• Weapon abilities are no longer randomized when you craft. You can customize unique items, or equip your whole team with katana and yumi.

Further down the road, we will share more details about the village and the final Early Access update, but the next dev diary in a few weeks will offer a closer look at Update 2.
