Residents and councillors in Peterborough have come together to call for safety improvements at a school crossing.
Concerns have been raised about the safety of the current crossing located just outside of Jack Hunt Academy on Bradwell Road.
Longthorpe Primary Academy is also located on the same road and it adjoins Atherstone Avenue, where Thorpe Primary School is located.
Calls for action have come following several reports of cars failing to stop when cars are crossing the road.

Among those calling for action is Mohammed Younis.
He said: “I am deeply concerned about the safety of the children and young people traveling to and from school.
"At the end of school, large numbers of students- including those from nearby primary schools- leave the premises and cross the road.
"In the absence of a crossing patrol, it is only natural for parents, caregivers, grandparents, and local residents to worry about the safety of these children.
"There is a fear that some drivers fail to stop when children are crossing the road. This situation causes anxiety for children, families, and the wider community. We need practical action to keep our children safe.
"As a resident and a grandfather, I believe that every child has the right to a safe journey to and from school. Our children are our future, and their safety should be a priority for everyone. No one should have to worry about a child crossing a busy road.”
A meeting to discuss all of the problems, including traffic congestion, dangerous driving, safety and parking with Peterborough City Council has been convened by Ravensthorpe ward councillor Raja Sabeel Ahmed.
The meeting is open to all and will take place on the Bradmore Road/ Elmore Road junction with councillors, representatives from Jack Hunt and city council Highways officers on Thursday November 5 at 3pm.
Cllr Sabeel said: “Since I have been a councillor, residents of the Netherton area have reported parking and safety issues with the zebra crossing at school pick and drop off times.
"We made a site visit and found there are concerns when children are leaving the school and I would like to see a crossing patrol brought in.
"There are also issues with parking. I am calling for a ban on parking on grass verges, parking on street junctions and corners.”
