A motorcyclist died in a hit-and-run in North Las Vegas early Saturday morning, police said.

The North Las Vegas Police Department said in a news release that officers were dispatched to West Ann Road and Whitestone Drive just after 3:30 a.m. in response to a crash.

After a preliminary investigation, police said a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling west on Ann Road when a 2019 Honda CRV attempted a left turn on the street from Whitestone Drive. The motorcycle, driven by a man in his 40s, collided with the left side of the SUV, the release said.

Police said the motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene. The CRV fled the scene before law enforcement arrived and remains outstanding, a police spokesperson said.
