Olivia Rodrigo fans heading to PeoplesBank Area in Hartford this weekend are urged to take extra precautions during an anticipated nor’easter.
The storm is expected to bring on-and-off rain showers, wind gusts up to 40-60 miles an hour, and could bring down branches and cause power outages across the state.
Hartford is expected to get one to two inches of rain with possible local flooding. With the hazardous conditions, the Connecticut Department of Transportation has shared safety tips for travelers so they arrive safely.
“With heavy rain and wind in the forecast, CT DOT is reminding motorists to use extra caution on the road,” said CT DOT spokesperson Eva Zymaris. “Slow down, stay alert, and never drive through a flooded roadway. Turn around, don’t drown.”
Zymaris explained that if drivers see branches, tree limbs, or wires on the roadway, to not attempt to remove it and immediately call 911.
CT DOT said they will post road closures or any impacts or incidents on state roadways on their website.
Zymaris said crews will be monitoring conditions throughout the weekend and will respond as needed.
