Tyson Fury has revealed he is on holiday drinking 'up to 12 pints a day' and plunged his proposed £200m summer showdown with Anthony Joshua into doubt by claiming the fight is 'nowhere near' to being finalised.

The self-styled Gypsy King is expected to face Joshua for the undisputed heavyweight crown later this year, but negotiations are still ongoing.

The three promoters at the centre of the talks, Eddie Hearn, Frank Warren and Bob Arum, have all spoken enthusiastically about a deal being agreed with the latter declaring recently that all the issues holding up the announcement have been resolved.

However, Fury has claimed otherwise and stopped training for the fight altogether, and will stay out of the gym until he says he is given a 'fight date' and has 'a hell of a lot of money in my pocket'.

Speaking to iFLTV, the WBC champion said: 'I’ve stopped training now, I’m on holiday, I‘m doing anywhere between, eight, 10, 12 pints of lager a day at the minute. Not eating though so I’m getting my calories through alcohol.

‘There’s nothing to do, is there? I’ve done training, training, training with no further process. It’s one of those things, at the minute I’m just chilling out, being a man of leisure in lockdown.’

About the complicated situation with fighting Joshua, he added: ‘Let’s break it down. Eddie Hearn is a boxing promoter. So is Bob Arum. It’s their job to sell a fight. Joshua is saying what he’s saying, I’m not on social media at the moment at all. So whatever they are saying is very unimportant to me.

‘Until I’ve got a fight, a date and hell of a lot of money in my pocket, there is no fight. There’s a lot of things going on that people don’t know about behind the scenes that can scupper a fight like that.

‘So nothing is actually on until you are in the ring. So yeah, we are nowhere near that at the moment.

‘I can’t do nothing, it’s out of my hands. It is nothing to do with me at all. I’m just a boxer. There’s a lot of things like I say behind the scenes that can alter a fight.

‘Do I think I’m going to be fighting Anthony Joshua in the next 10 minutes? No. Do I think the fight with Joshua will eventually happen sooner or later? Yes. It has to happen. But do I think it’s imminent, right next minute? No I don’t.’

Fury, who has not fought in over year since dethroning Deontay Wilder, is likely to cause some concern by his admission that he is drinking excessively again, having ballooned up to 28 stone as he turned to alcohol and drugs amid his battle against depression after his victory over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.

The Manchester heavyweight has also claimed that he could end up facing Wilder in a trilogy fight next, casting further doubt over his undisputed showdown with Joshua.

Fury's team had distanced themselves from another fight with Wilder, who was stopped in seven rounds last February in his rematch with the Brit, after they claimed their contractual obligation to a third clash had expired at the end of last year.

Wilder is still awaiting on a judge to decide whether he has a contractual right to a third fight after taking Fury to arbitration in America.

And Fury insisted 'don't rule Wilder out of the equation just yet,' despite the huge demand from fans to see him fight unified champion Joshua for all the titles.
