D2R community members are marking the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation by wearing custom-designed orange shirts featuring artwork by Summer (Niibin) Taylor, an Anishnawbe and Oji-Cree graphic designer.

Created as part of D2R's Research Can Be Reconciliation campaign, the artwork encourages reflection on the role research can play in advancing reconciliation through listening, learning, relationship-building, respect, and accountability.

In a recent Q&A, Taylor shared the inspiration behind the design and the message woven throughout the artwork. The design reflects the idea that reconciliation is not a destination, but an ongoing commitment that requires action, reflection, and a willingness to listen.

By wearing these shirts, D2R community members are showing their commitment to continued learning and reflection, while recognizing the important role research can play in building respectful relationships with Indigenous Peoples and communities.
