Patrick Clancy's new wife Rachel Danis is currently carrying the couple's first child, the 60 Minutes correspondent who interviewed them last week has confirmed.

Speaking on CBS Mornings on Monday morning, Ross Douthat told show host Nate Burleson: 'They are having a child.'

Douthat had been answering a question from Buleson about how he handled his first assignment for the newsmagazine.

The episode aired Sunday night. 

Patrick's ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, killed the couple's three young children at their $650,000 home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, in January 2023. A triple homicide trial ended in a sensational 11-1 jury deadlock and mistrial earlier this month.

Clancy, 38, offered 60 Minutes his first post-trial interview. He testified about his first wife's mental state for two days during the trial.

Danis, a New York infertility specialist, sat as well. Recent photos show her sporting what appears to be a baby bump.

'And you guys are starting a family,' Douthat asked the couple at a point - a portion played back by Burleson on Mornings during a sort of 60 Minutes post-game.

'Yes,' Danis said in the clip - leaving Burleson to ask for clarification. Douthat - a former conservative columnist for The New York Times - was on remotely as a guest

'Maybe starting a family was a- maybe that was too. you know- too coy a way of asking it,' he conceded. 

'This is- this was my first "60 minutes" interview. So you know, when I'm a few years in, I'll ask the question more- more you know straightforwardly, but yes they're having a child.' 

Douthat was hired by CBS News Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss as part of a wider overhaul of the program back in July.  Weiss is the founder of the center-right Free Press and was hired herself by then-new Paramount CEO David Ellison in October.

Within months as chief, Weiss saw 60 Minutes 'as calcified and resistant to change,' sources told CNN in late May.

Days later, Weiss handpicked former Times tech columnist Nick Bilton to replace longtime producer Tanya Simon. An array of firings were also carried out. Scott Pelley, one of the show's longest-serving journalists, was fired the following week.

Anderson Cooper left the show of his own accord back in May as well. 

The combination of moves and new leadership fueled intrigue into 60 Minutes then-looming 59th season, which premiered on September 13 to mostly postive reviews.

An estimated 7.9 million viewers tuned in to watch an interview with an Air Force pilot shot down over Iran earlier this year and a hidden camera investigation into underground pardon brokers in Washington from Lesley Stahl. 

'The verdict is in: it's still "60 Minutes!"' New York Times media reporter Ben Mullin wrote Sunday on X, after fears the show and feel different during its return.

A piece in the Times framed it as the start of 'The Bari Weiss Era.' 

Clancy's interview was announced with a quick 13-second clip on Wednesday, during which he was seen undergoing interview prep.

Another clip released the following day revealed Danis would be interviewed as well.   

Clancy filed for divorce from his first wife in February 2024 – a full year following the murders of his five-year-old daughter, three-year-old son, and eight-month-old at the family's then-home in Massachusetts. 

His ex-wife, Lindsay, still faces being retried, after A lone holdout juror refused to find her not guilty by lack of criminal responsibility. Her lawyers used what many refer to as the 'insanity defense.'

The former labor and delivery nurse admitted to fatally strangling the children before attempting [to take her own life] before the trial began. Her legal team argued that she had been in the throes of postpartum psychosis.

Prosecutors have yet to announce plans to try the 36-year-old again.

Clancy framed Lindsay as a 'very dedicated' mother who'd do anything for their kids while on the stand - a point he made again during his interview with 60 Minutes with Douthat.

'I saw headlines that say "killer mom" and "baby murderer monster" and none of them were accurate. I believed that it was her mental illness that caused that,' he said at a point. 

He also discussed how stress from the murders also took its toll, leaving him suicidal.

'There was a time I didn't think I would live to see my 35th birthday, and I was completely fine with it,' he said.

He revealed how he moved to New York shortly after, in a bid to be somewhere 'where he could grieve.'

His lawyer, Howard Cooper, issued a statement after the mistrial ruling last week, promising 'consequences' for True Crime creators who have included his client in their conspiracy theories. 

During the interview, Clancy recalled how various cocktails of prescriptions from multiple doctors failed to stop his wife's 'big spiral.'

He claimed his wife began to tell him about 'intrusive thoughts' she was having about harming the children around early December 2022.

'She described thoughts of hurting the kids or them having some sort of ailment,' he said on the stand.

Clancy testified that he did not feel concerned for his kids' safety because his wife did not express 'any intention' to act on those thoughts.

A multi-day stay in the psychiatric ward of a local hospital the following month left him thinking his wife's mental health was set to improve.

'I was hopeful,' Clancy said. 'She seemed much better.'

However, later that month, on January 24, 2023, Lindsay strangled their three children while Clancy left the house to pick up medicine for their eldest and a takeout order she herself placed.

Clancy testified that he kissed his daughter on the head, rocked his infant son and told his family he'd 'be right back.'

When he returned home, he testified, 'The door was locked.'

'And that’s when I knew something was wrong.'

He walked in to a bloody crime scene and saw a window open after Lindsay attempted to take her life.

After rushing outside to her aid, Clancy asked his wife what happened, he testified.

She responded, 'I tried to kill myself,' before telling Clancy their kids were in the basement. 

Under the impression they were still alive, Clancy frantically dialed 911 and waited for first-responders.

When they arrived, he rushed into the house to find all of his children lying still with exercise resistance bands wrapped around their necks.

'He looked up and he screamed, "She killed the [expletive] kids!"' Duxbury police officer Brian Josephine testified. Duxbury is the Boston suburb where the family lived. 

The segments for next week's 60 Minutes have yet to be announced.
