Python 3.15 is out today as the newest annual feature release for the Python programming language.

Python's JIT compiler is still in experimental form but it's a lot faster now with Python 3.15. The JIT compiler should be 7~8% geo mean faster on Linux x86-64 over Python's standard interpreter. On AArch64 macOS the JIT compiler is said to be 11~12% faster over the tail-calling interpreter.

Python 3.15 also introduces the sentinel built-in type, UTF-8 is the default encoding of Python 3.15, explicit lazy imports for faster Python script startup times, a new "frozendict" built-in type, and package startup configuration files.

Python 3.15 also benefits from improved error messages, standard library enhancements, C API improvements. Python 3.15 also enables frame pointers by default for improved system-level observability.
