Listen up, fans of KPop Demon Hunters; which, at this point, is basically everyone. The phenomenon movie that everyone was talking about is officially getting the high-end physical media treatment, joining The Criterion Collection as Spine #1333. And honestly? Good. It’s about time animation this good got treated like the art it is. And the fact there aren’t many animated movies in the collection, makes the news even sweeter.

Here’s the breakdown. The release drops November 3, 2026, and you’ve got three ways to buy in:

• 2-Disc DVD — $23.96
• 2-Disc Blu-ray — $31.96
• 3-Disc 4K UHD + Blu-ray — $39.96

All three tiers come loaded with the same director-approved special features, so the format you pick really just comes down to if your setup is ready for some glorious 4K or not, are up for pre-order on the Criterion Collection website.

Here’s what’s in the box regardless of which one you grab:

• New 4K digital master, approved by directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans
• Full feature-length animatic, with a new introduction from Kang and Appelhans
• A new making-of documentary
• Two video essays from Taylor Ramos and Tony Zhou of Every Frame a Painting
• Lyric videos
• The theatrical trailer
• English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing, plus English descriptive audio
• Collectible postcards featuring original illustrations from artists who worked on the film
• An essay from critic Karen Han
• New cover art by Ami Thompson
• Blu-ray and 4K editions also add a Dolby Atmos soundtrack, with the 4K disc in Dolby Vision HDR

To me, the animatic and the Ramos/Zhou video essays are the real draw. Anyone can slap a movie on a disc and call it a special edition. Getting filmmakers who built their reputation on breaking down why a scene works to dig into HUNTR/X’s choreography and staging is what actually justifies a physical purchase in 2026.

So, if you’ve been holding out for a physical copy of the funniest, most surprising animated movie of the decade, now’s your shot. Who said physical media was dead? And yes, I’ve already ordered mine, there was never any doubt.
