Songmont showcases the third edition of its thematic exhibition, “Song of Mont (远山有声)”, during Paris Fashion Week. This marks another notable milestone in the brand’s global trajectory.

Rooted in an enduring dialogue between nature, design and time, the third presentation introduces Songmont’s understated yet distinctive design language to international editors, buyers and tastemakers — translating an aesthetic sensibility rooted in central China and a philosophy of balance into a contemporary language of leather design.

“Song of Mont” Exhibitions in Paris

For three years, Songmont’s exhibitions in Paris have unfolded under the name, “Song of Mont”. Three editions are connected not only by title, but also by Songmont’s ongoing exploration of “journey” — a process of tracing its origins, encountering the world, and deepening its connection with culture, craft, and making. Rather than creating a fixed exhibition format, the title takes on a different expression each year.

In 2024, the sound of camel bells across the desert led visitors back to the Yellow River basin, introducing Songmont’s origins and roots. In 2025, the first chime of bells from a mountain pavilion at dawn, accompanied by a gentle morning greeting, creates a space where each collection is experienced independently and explores the versatile expressions of Songmont’s design language.

This year, Songmont turns to the Tă (pagoda) — an architectural form rooted in the birthplace of Songmont, Shanxi. As wind chimes upon the pagodas stir, they echo as a call to journey that beckons travelers to embark — bringing together craftsmanship and cultural heritage to deepen its ongoing dialogue with the world.

“Song of Mont” Focuses on Tă (Pagoda)

Tă (pagoda) offers a tangible entry point into Songmont’s 2026 journey in Paris. Historically, the pagodas have served as a visual symbol through which the West imagined the East. Yet in Shanxi, they are ancient landmarks deeply woven into everyday life. Rising in hexagonal or octagonal forms amidst low-rise dwellings, these pagodas stand as emotional anchors of hometown memory.

Drawing from this, Songmont distills this ancient presence into the exhibition with a contemporary, walk-in space defined by clean, minimalist lines. Six display structures converge to form the pagoda’s hexagonal body, showcasing the brand’s six signature collections: Gather, Yore and Shan, alongside the silhouettes of Song, Luna and Drippy Roof. Openings between each section welcome visitors from all directions.

Inside, an Eastern spatial philosophy unfolds: rooting in the center, as the north-south axis extends afar. Direction is not merely a spatial coordinate, but an expression of the relationship between humans, nature and their surroundings.

Every turn fosters a new connection, opening up a different way of seeing. The crisp, ethereal chimes of traditional wind bells (Fēngduó) resonate throughout the space, creating a calm atmosphere that invites visitors to connect with themselves and the world around them. In this shared moment, the pagoda serves both as Songmont’s departure point onto the global stage and as a destination where guests arrive at the very heart of Eastern culture.

Founded by Fu Song and Wang Jie, Songmont has evolved from an independent atelier rooted in Shanxi into a contemporary design-led leather goods brand with a global outlook. Fu Song’s background in user-experience design has shaped an approach that places real-life functionality and structural clarity at the heart of the design process.

Its signature Song Bag translates the skeletal geometry of traditional Chinese kites into a soft, structured leather vessel. Having undergone more than 100 design iterations over seven years, the style has achieved cumulative sales of more than 460,000 units across more than 150 countries and regions — demonstrating that heritage elements, when translated with modern utility, transcend regional aesthetic boundaries.

Brand History and Craftsmanship

At the heart of Songmont’s enduring spirit is its commitment to the philosophy of “Knowing • Living • Being” and its dedication to preserving the warmth of craftsmanship.

In the brand’s early stages, Song’s mother returned to their Shanxi hometown to assemble the “Granny Team” — a collective of local artisans with an average age of 65 who poured decades of needlework mastery into every piece. As the brand evolved, this team transitioned into a dedicated bag restoration and maintenance atelier, preserving the longevity of each piece and keeping the warmth of handmade memory alive through patient care.

Songmont Stores and International Growth

To support growing international demand, Songmont pairs direct-to-consumer digital channels with curated physical flagships. Beyond its domestic destination spaces — such as Shanghai’s Huaihai Middle Road, which has become a hub for inbound international travelers — the brand opened its first overseas experiential space at CentralWorld in Bangkok, utilizing traditional incense culture as a curatorial touchpoint for Southeast Asia.

Sustainability

Alongside its focus on full-grain leather craftsmanship, Songmont continues to explore material innovation and environmental responsibility. Addressing the challenge of marine waste, the brand incorporates low-carbon, recycled vegan leather derived from reclaimed ocean plastics as an eco-conscious complement to its core leather offerings.

This circular commitment extends across the unboxing experience: boxes are crafted from unbleached, FSC- and RESY-certified recycled pulp printed with biodegradable soy-based inks, paired with natural, biodegradable linen dust bags — extending Songmont’s respect for nature to every detail.

By uniting Eastern cultural references, uncompromising craftsmanship, and conscious sustainability, Songmont continues to cultivate a distinct cultural identity and voice on the global stage.
