Barn finds usually come with a romantic backstory — decades of dust, a forgotten corner of a shed, a car “lost to time.”

This 1958 Corvette isn’t one of those. No myths, no mice, no melodrama. Instead, it’s a clean, well‑kept Signet Red with Snowcrest White coves C1 that was restored before 2015, bought on Bring a Trailer in May 2023, and now — three years later — is back on BaT looking as sharp as ever.

The current auction sits at $48,000 with five days left.

Unlike the mystery‑cars that surface with vague claims and missing paperwork, this one arrives with refurbishment records, NCRS scoring sheets, and a clear timeline. The seller notes he added roughly 300 miles since purchasing it, bringing the odometer to 1,334 miles — though total mileage remains unknown, as expected for a C1 of this era.

Even small details show recent attention. The hood latches were adjusted in 2023, though the washer hoses and squirters remain uninstalled — a common quirk on older Corvettes.

The interior stays true to the era: red vinyl bucket seats, matching dash and door panels, and a dash‑mounted rearview mirror. The seller mentions a new turn‑signal switch installed in March 2023, while the cigarette lighter is currently inoperative.

Instrumentation is classic C1: sweeping 160‑mph speedometer, tachometer, and gauges for fuel, coolant, battery, and oil pressure. Everything sits behind a period‑correct steering wheel.

Under the hood sits the desirable 283ci V8 with dual four‑barrel carburetors, factory‑rated at 270 horsepower. The engine pad stamping shows the CU suffix, confirming the correct high‑output configuration for a 1958 Corvette equipped with a manual transmission. Power runs through a four‑speed manual and a 3.70:1 Positraction differential.

The sale includes photos and records of the frame-off restoration, NCRS scoring sheets from previous ownership, and a clean Oregon title.

No, this isn’t a dusty neglected barn find. It’s better. It’s a known, documented, restored 1958 Corvette in arguably the most classic color combination Chevrolet ever sprayed on a C1. The seller’s three‑year stewardship has been careful and transparent, and the car’s presentation reflects that.

With a week left and bidding already underway, this Signet Red ’58 feels poised to draw a few nostalgic sighs from anyone who’s ever dreamed of owning a first‑generation Corvette. Are we talking about your dream car?
