Angela Stribling, 58, a former BET personality who is credited with launching the outlet’s “Jazz Central,” died Sept. 26 from brain cancer. She was also a longtime “warm, soothing voice” on radio in Washington, D.C.

Dennis Haskins, 75, an actor known best for playing Principal Richard Belding on the 1990s high school sitcom “Saved by the Bell,” died Sept. 27 in Burbank, Calif., after battling Parkinson’s disease and other health issues. He acted in “Magnum P.I.” and “The Dukes of Hazzard” before finding his way to the part that would make him America’s favorite principal.

Benjamin Satterley, 40, a wrestler known as Pac whose highflying moves delighted fans worldwide, died Sept. 27. His death came less than 24 hours after he competed in a wrestling event. Satterley, considered one of the best wrestlers in the world, also wrestled under the name of Adrian Neville.

Slinger Francisco, 91, known on stage as the Mighty Sparrow and dubbed the “Calypso King of the World,” died Sept. 27 in Trinidad after a brief illness. He recorded hundreds of songs and performed at famous venues including New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

Francisco will be remembered as “a defining voice of our culture … whose music helped carry calypso from Trinidad and Tobago to the world,” the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians’ Organisation said in a statement.

Dolores Sibonga, 95, the longtime trailblazing community leader who left an “indelible mark” and became the first woman of color to serve on the Seattle City Council, died Sept. 16 in Renton.

Sibonga dedicated her life to public service, first as a journalist and then as a lawyer and politician focused on supporting communities of color, often as the first Filipina in Seattle to do so. She served on the City Council for 12 years, prioritizing diversity efforts and economic development across the city.

She will be remembered “for her fierce integrity, mentoring, and lifelong devotion to making Seattle a more inclusive community for all,” Seattle City Council President Joy Hollingsworth wrote.
