A new state-of-the-art facility that will train future nurses is one step closer to completion.

The UNC School of Nursing held a topping off celebration Sept. 30, marking the completion of the structural framework for the new Nursing Education Building, which is slated to open in fall 2027. The building will support Carolina Nursing’s growing programs, research and reach as it prepares more nurses to serve North Carolina.

At the event, the Carolina community heard from Dean Valerie Howard about the nursing school’s accomplishments and vision for the future, including responsible growth in enrollment and support for students, faculty and staff. Following the address, guests, including Chancellor Lee H. Roberts and Provost Magnus Egerstedt, signed a Carolina Blue structural beam before watching a crane lift it into place at the top of the building.
