The European Commission has approved a €170 million Bulgarian state aid scheme for farmers facing higher fuel and fertilizer costs linked to the crisis in the Middle East, the EC press service announced.
The scheme was approved under the Temporary Crisis Framework for the Middle East, known as METSAF, which the European Commission adopted on April 29, 2026.
It will remain in place through December 31, 2026, with the aim of easing the impact of increased fuel and fertilizer prices on Bulgaria’s agricultural sector.
