MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. A detachment of ships of the Russian Navy’s Northern Fleet has arrived at the port of Dudinka in the Krasnoyarsk Region during an Arctic deployment, the fleet’s press service reported.

"A detachment of Northern Fleet warships conducting missions as part of an Arctic deployment has arrived at the port of Dudinka. The crews of the ice-class patrol ship Ivan Papanin and the large landing ship Kondopoga have completed their voyage from the Kara Sea along the Yenisei River," the statement says.

The Northern Fleet sailors were welcomed at the port by Alexey Chlenov, head of the Taymyr Dolgan-Nenets municipal district, Natalya Korosteleva, deputy mayor of Norilsk for social policy, and residents of Dudinka, who presented them with traditional treats, the press service noted.

"On behalf of Northern Fleet Commander Admiral Konstantin Kabantsov, and the Northern Fleet Military Council, I extend my warmest greetings. Events will be held in Taymyr as outlined in the expedition’s plan, including patriotic activities--Northern Fleet sailors will conduct lessons on courage in educational institutions and tell students about the servicemen who are heroically and honorably carrying out their military duty during the special military operation," said Deputy Commander of the Northern Fleet Vice Admiral Oleg Golubev, addressing those gathered to welcome the crew.

The Northern Fleet’s press service noted that during the meeting of the detachment’s crews, representatives of five indigenous peoples of Taimyr addressed the sailors, and artists from the Nenets youth studio Ya’val performed a traditional dance.

The long-distance deployment of the Northern Fleet’s detachment of warships and auxiliary vessels in the Arctic Ocean is being conducted under the command of Deputy Commander of the Northern Fleet Vice Admiral Oleg Golubev. The task force includes the ice-class patrol ship Ivan Papanin, the large landing ship Kondopoga, the rescue tug Pamir, and the ocean-going tanker Sergey Osipov.

The Arctic deployment of the Northern Fleet’s ships is being conducted to safeguard Russia’s maritime navigation and economic activities in the Arctic.
