The No. 10 Regina Rams are 2-2 after a 38-31 loss to the No. 5 Saskatchewan Huskies on Saturday at Mosaic Stadium. The teams were tied 17-17 at halftime before Saskatchewan scored three straight touchdowns in the third quarter.

Regina won both meetings last season, 43-36 in overtime at McMahon Stadium on Aug. 29 and 18-12 in Regina on Oct. 4.

Player to Watch: Matt Sibley. The fifth-year receiver caught nine passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns against Alberta. He leads Canada West with 558 receiving yards.

Dinos Women’s Soccer (7-0-0)
  • Friday, Oct. 2, Calgary vs. Regina, McMahon Stadium. 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 4, Calgary vs. Saskatchewan, McMahon Stadium, noon

The Dinos beat the Mount Royal Cougars 1-0 on Saturday in the season’s first Crowchild Classic soccer meeting, keeping their perfect record in Canada West play and ending Mount Royal’s unbeaten start. Erica Mysko scored the only goal in the 52nd minute, set up by Mykena Walker.

Calgary has outscored its opponents 18-2 through seven games and has kept a clean sheet in four consecutive games. The Dinos moved up one spot to No. 3 in this week’s U SPORTS rankings.

The Regina Cougars were 1-5 in Canada West play before losing twice to the Saskatchewan Huskies last weekend, including 7-1 on Sunday in Saskatoon. Huskies striker Isabelle Lachance scored three times over the two games, bringing her season total to four and helping Saskatchewan improve to 5-2-1 in Canada West play.

Calgary beat both teams on the road earlier this month, winning 1-0 in Saskatoon on Sept. 19 and 5-0 in Regina the next day.

Player to Watch: Mykena Walker. The defender has an assist in each of her last two games, including the game-winner against Mount Royal. She also scored in the 5-0 win at Regina on Sept. 20.

Dinos Men’s Soccer (7-2-0)
  • Friday, Oct. 2, Calgary at UFV, Rotary Stadium, Abbotsford, B.C., 8:45 p.m. MT
  • Saturday, Oct. 3, Calgary at UBC, Thunderbird Stadium, Vancouver, 7 p.m.

The Dinos head to B.C. on a five-game win streak. A home sweep last weekend moved them to 7-2-0 in Canada West play and to No. 8 in the U SPORTS rankings.

Josral Frederick, Luis Rangel-Kataev and Efe Udolu-Joshua combined for five goals in a 5-1 win over the UBC Okanagan Heat on Saturday, with Rangel-Kataev and Udolu-Joshua each scoring twice.

Rangel-Kataev opened the scoring again on Sunday in a 2-0 win over the Trinity Western Spartans, and Frederick added a second-half goal for his second of the weekend. Goalkeeper Hany Shafie made four saves for the clean sheet in Calgary’s final regular season game at McMahon Stadium, where the graduating seniors were honoured before kickoff.

The Fraser Valley Cascades (5-3-2) are 4-0-1 since a 3-2 loss to UBC on Sept. 11, and they won 3-2 at the MacEwan Griffins on Sunday.

The No. 2 UBC Thunderbirds (7-0-2) are the only unbeaten team in Canada West. They beat the Alberta Golden Bears 3-0 on Sunday in Edmonton, where Luke Norman scored twice in first-half stoppage time on his way to Canada West Player of the Week honours.

Player to Watch: Efe Udolu-Joshua. He had three points over the weekend, scoring twice against UBC Okanagan and assisting on Frederick’s goal against Trinity Western.

Dinos Women’s Rugby (1-3-0)
  • Sunday, Oct. 4, Calgary vs. Victoria, McMahon Stadium, 2:30 p.m.

The Dinos earned their first win since 2022 on Saturday, beating the Alberta Pandas 17-13 at Southern Alberta Rugby Union. Calgary trailed 13-12 when Amber Quo crossed in the final seconds.

The result moves the Dinos to 1-3-0 in Canada West play and avenges a 29-21 loss in Edmonton on Sept. 11.

Sunday is Calgary’s final home game of the regular season.

The No. 4 Victoria Vikes (2-0-0) visit the Alberta Pandas on Thursday before travelling to Calgary. Victoria beat the UBC Thunderbirds 43-25 in its season opener and the Lethbridge Pronghorns 44-26 a week later. The Vikes have played in each of the past three U SPORTS championship finals.

Victoria won the teams’ most recent meeting, on Sept. 6, 2025, in Victoria.

Player to Watch: Amber Quo. The third-year player scored the winning try in the 80th minute of the 17-13 win over Alberta. She was named Canada West BioSteel Player of the Week for Women’s Rugby 15s.

Dinos Golf – Canada West Championship
  • Monday, Oct. 5 to Tuesday, Oct. 6, Canada West Championship, Paradise Canyon Golf Resort, Lethbridge, Alta.

The Dinos opened their season at Paradise Canyon, finishing third in both the men’s and women’s competitions at the Lethbridge Invitational on Sept. 20-21.

The men shot 586, one stroke behind the second-place Pronghorns. Desmond White placed fourth individually at 143 (70-73), and Sahil Kaura and Sawyer Tessier tied for sixth at 147.

Kristin McGeachie led the women in a tie for fourth at 167, and Peyton Schmidt was fifth at 173.

The Lethbridge Pronghorns host this year’s championship. It is the first time Canada West has held its golf finals in the Prairies and outside of British Columbia. The Alberta Golden Bears won the men’s title at both fall invitationals. Alberta’s women won at Stony Plain, and the Pronghorns’ women won on their home course.

Calgary’s women placed fourth at last year’s championship at Chilliwack Golf Club in Chilliwack, B.C.

Golfer to Watch: Desmond White. He shot 70-73 at Paradise Canyon last month to finish fourth at the Lethbridge Invitational, the best individual result for Calgary’s men this season. The championship returns him to that course.

  • Sunday, Oct. 4, Calgary at Victoria, Lynne “Buzz” Beecroft Field, Victoria, noon
