WASHINGTON, October 4. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump stressed the importance of good relations with leaders of nuclear powers.

"[Chinese] President Xi [Jinping] just left," Trump said at a rally in Ohio on Saturday, referring to the Chinese leader’s state visit to the United States on September 23-25. The US president said he had previously been asked "Why is he being nice to President Xi?" "Isn't it nice to get along with the leaders of massive nations, massive nuclear nations? Isn't it nice to have a good relationship?" Trump said.

The US president also said: "We get along great. I get along great with [North Korean leader] Kim Jong Un, okay?" He added, "But here's the difference: Iran will never have a nuclear missile." The Iranian authorities have repeatedly said they do not seek to acquire nuclear weapons.

The rally focused on the US midterm congressional elections scheduled for November 3. Voters will elect 33 of the 100 members of the Senate and all 435 members of the House of Representatives.
