The price is up, but so is the number of standard features—plus a restyled front fascia improves both aero and cooling
2027 Honda Civic Type R Photo by HondaHonda’s hot Civic Type R sport-compact is getting a handful of tweaks for model year 2027, namely a revised front fascia meant to improve both aerodynamics and cooling; and, for the first time on a Type R, heated seats. The coming year marks the 10th-anniversary year for the built-in-Ohio Type R badge in North America, and the 30th anniversary globally.
The growing list of new standard features in the automaker’s “iconic hot hatch” does mean the MSRP sees a slight bump, of course, up about $1,000 versus last year to CDN$54,850. That works out to CDN$58,307 when you roll in most applicable fees, including destination ones.
But for your money you get a 315-horsepower four-cylinder that “delivers the ultimate expression of Honda performance”—it helps that it’s backed up by a class-exclusive six-speed manual transmission. That stick-shifted four now breathes a little easier thanks to a larger grille opening that reduces turbulence and improves airflow velocity through the radiator to better cool the engine. Revisions to the front fascia also include a deeper front splitter that helps improve aerodynamics.

Canadian enthusiasts may appreciate that the “racing-inspired front sport seats” – upholstered in a suede-like material – are now also heated for the first time. And Google built-in and Gemini make their debut, too, as do two additional USB-C ports above the wireless charger; and Alexa built-in. There’s also a host of new standard safety tech, including (also a Type-R first) Post-Collision Braking (PCB).
A new Meteoroid Grey Metallic paint option has been added to the order forms, and several interior trim bits and the shift knob wear a darker shade of grey to match.
You should expect to see the new Civic Type R in Canadian Honda showrooms later this fall.
