Drew Barrymore shocked fans as she rushed offstage choking during a taping of her talk show.

The actress, 49 — who recently ripped out her hair extensions live on TV — was in the middle of interviewing actor Henry Winkler on Friday when the situation quickly turned awry.

Moments after taking a sip from her mug, fans gasped as the Culver City native excused herself and ran off the set while signaling for help.

'Don't you worry. Don't you worry. It's Ok,' Winkler said comforting Barrymore as she hurried backstage. 'No? OK.'

Knowing that the show must go on, the Happy Days star jumped into action and asked the audience: 'So, thank you for being here. It is such a pleasure. So, while we're waiting, is there anything you'd like to hear about?'

Fans began to shout at the actor, with one suggesting his 2003 sitcom Arrested Development produced by Fox.

The actor, who struggles with dyslexia, jumped at the idea and filled the silence gushing over how he became a regular on the series.

He explained: 'I went as the lawyer for the family and it was really hard for me to read so I would ad-lib a lot.

'I was there in my first scene in the living room with the rest of the family and I have a bunch of Danish on the table. And I open my attaché case and while I'm talking to them, I'm pulling the Danish closer and closer.'

The Click star then said he 'let the Danish fall into [his] attaché case. And I stayed for five years... that was really written by a genius.'

As he wrapped his story, Barrymore quickly recovered and rejoined Winkler on stage as fans cheered on the starlet.

'That has never happened to me in my life. Excuse me so much. I'm so sorry,' the actress apologized.

To which her interviewee responded, 'No! Are you a human being?'

The duo brushed off the situation and continued on into the following segment of the episode.
