MOSCOW, September 29. /TASS/. Sales in the petrochemical and gas chemical segment will decline this year on the St. Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange (SPIMEX) to about 500,000 metric tons due to unscheduled turnarounds at plants, Senior Vice President of the exchange Anton Karpov told TASS in an interview.

"The sales volume as of 2026 year-end is expected at the level of around 500,000 tons, which is lower than the last year due to unscheduled turnarounds at petrochemical and gas chemical plants," Karpov said.

The proactive rise in trading in petrochemicals was observed over the last five years, the vice president said. Sales of such products in January - August 2026 were 38% higher than figures for the year of 2021, he stressed.
