Markdown lessons, from authoring to classroom presentation

LessonMark is a Moodle course resource for creating, editing and publishing technical and text-rich teaching materials. Start a new lesson directly in Moodle or import an existing .md file, then edit the Markdown source beside a live preview.

Markdown remains the editable source of truth rather than being replaced with generated HTML. Your materials stay easy to export, compare, translate and reuse with tools such as Git, VS Code or external AI-assisted authoring tools.

Create clear, readable learning materials

• Responsive split Markdown editor and preview, with Edit/Preview tabs on smaller screens.
• Automatic table of contents, stable heading IDs and heading links.
• Syntax-highlighted code blocks, tables and teaching-oriented typography.
• NOTE, TIP and WARNING callouts.
• Moodle-managed teaching images, with accessibility and path diagnostics.
• LaTeX and AsciiMath formulas, and Mermaid diagrams, using locally bundled rendering libraries without a CDN.
• Ungraded RESPONSE, CHOICE and ANSWER self-check blocks for practice and explanations.

Use the same lessons in the classroom

Present a saved lesson as slides with keyboard navigation and a fullscreen option. Explicit slide separators let teachers divide a lesson into manageable presentation sections.

Course presentation continues through accessible, visible LessonMark activities in Moodle course order, without duplicating lesson content. Moodle availability rules and LessonMark view permissions are checked for each lesson.

Keep materials portable

• Validated UTF-8 .md import and permission-controlled export of saved Markdown.
• Saved-content PDF export, including Moodle-managed images.
• Moodle activity backup, restore and course duplication, with internal activity and course link remapping.

PDF export includes readable formula and diagram source rather than browser-rendered formula and diagram graphics. Browser-local working answers and unsaved editor changes are not included in saved-content exports. Self-check answers are not submitted to teachers or recorded as grades.

Designed to work within Moodle

Preview and student display share safe rendering. Raw HTML is not supported as executable authoring syntax. Invalid or unavailable formula and diagram rendering retains readable source.

LessonMark does not require a subscription or an external rendering service. It does not send lesson content or personal data to an AI service. Teachers may use external tools to prepare Markdown and then review and publish it in Moodle.
