A mom who went viral at a baseball game after a clip that saw her husband savaged online has broken her silence and jumped to his defense. 

TV cameras caught the woman awkwardly juggling a baby and a mountain of concession food while her husband sat comfortably in his seat.

The viral moment unfolded during the San Francisco Giants' clash against the Minnesota Twins at Oracle Park on Tuesday evening, when broadcast cameras panned into the stands to show the woman returning to her seat.

The now-viral footage showed the woman weaving between fellow supporters on her row – with an infant strapped tightly to her chest in a baby carrier.

Despite having her hands completely full with the newborn, she was also tasked with carrying multiple cardboard trays stacked high with ballpark food in both arms.

Rather than leaping up to meet her in the aisle or taking the heavy meal tray off her hands, the man simply remained sat down until she reached their seats.

When she finally navigated her way to him, he stood up to remove a coat on her seat before taking one of the trays of food and immediately digging into the meal, leaving her to continue balancing the items while also managing their baby.

The clip ignited instant outrage across the internet, racking up millions of views as users quickly lined up to roast the man for failing to help his significant other, with thousands branding his behavior selfish and inconsiderate.

But the woman at the center of the storm and dubbed 'mom of the year' by the Giants broadcast team has written an online blog post revealing what really happened and defending her husband.

The woman, Erika, revealed the identities of her husband, Ramses, and their daughter, Anastasia.

She shared they 'initially thought the broadcast was funny', adding: 'Friends and family started calling and texting us immediately. 

'We laughed at the narration because anyone who knows our family knows how ridiculous it is to suggest that Ramses never helps with our kids. But as the clip spread, people on the internet treated the announcers’ imaginary narration as evidence of our unequal relationship.'

She revealed that she went to use the restroom in 'around the fifth inning' and her husband offered to take their daughter, but she wanted to keep her.

While away from their seats, she texted her husband a photo of the food menu and said she 'might as well grab something for us', and he replied saying he would 'have whatever had the shortest line'.

She insisted that when she returned with food he cleared her seat, greeted their daughter and asked if she wanted to eat first, but she told him to go ahead.

She says she told him to eat and when she turned to interact with the woman sat next to them, was 'telling her about our daughter', rather than criticizing her husband.  

'I understand how it looked on television,' she wrote. 'But we could hear each other. The announcers and audience couldn’t.'

She also shared the heartbreaking reason they attended the game, as a way to remember 'one of his oldest friends', who recently passed away leaving her husband grieving. 

She revealed: 'I wanted Ramses to watch baseball, eat some ballpark food, and have some room to reflect on his friend’s passing. I would glance over and could tell he was texting his group chat about their lost member throughout the game.

'The camera showed what I was carrying in my hands. It couldn’t show what he was carrying that night.'

She went in-depth on her husband's role as a father, his effort and the loving nature of their relationship before revealing they have both 'received messages ranging from mildly annoying to deeply disturbing', including Ramses receiving death threats. 

'To anyone who has done that: shame on you,' she continued. 'My husband is a father, a son, and a person deeply loved by people who know who he truly is. Our children need their dad. I hope and pray you reflect on what you have written.'

She revealed that her husband has 'handled the attention with remarkable composure', while she has 'found it harder' and been left in tears reading comments about their marriage.

'The man people have been attacking was the one who consoled me,' she wrote. 'While strangers described how little he must care about me, he was helping me through the hurt their words have caused.'

She concluded that despite being called 'mom of the year', the compliments have come with 'assumptions about my marriage that are simply not true', and insisted she does it all because of the man by her side in the viral clip.
