A thrifty bride who refused to spend thousands on her wedding gown has revealed how she happily walked down the aisle in a dress that cost just £15.

Tyler Griffith, from Manchester, tied the knot with her husband Cameron Griffith, 24, in May in a low-key church ceremony that cost a total of £1,700 – after the couple agreed to keep costs to a minimum.

Rather than spending vast amounts at a bridal boutique, Tyler, 25, looked online and managed to snap up an elegant gown on second-hand website Vinted.

While she was fearful her guests might have thought the dress looked cheap, the bride said everyone at her wedding was oblivious to the remarkable bargain.

'On my wedding day, I felt the most beautiful I've ever felt in my life,' Tyler said. 'My first reaction when I saw it [the dress] and tried it on was "wow." I was so shocked and surprised by the quality and how beautiful it looked.'

She added that her guests were in disbelief when they discovered her dress had been so cheap, and that opting for a Shein gown that she found on Vinted had helped her save 'hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds'.

'I looked at Shein because I shop there regularly anyway and I thought, why not have a look and see if there is any on there,' she said.

'I'd never planned to buy from a bridal boutique because it wasn't within my price range and I personally find them too expensive.

'The dress cost me £15 and I did have some concerns before ordering it, mainly about the quality and how it would look.

'I ordered this particular dress because it was a mermaid-style that looked similar to one I wanted to buy online that cost a lot of money.'

Tyler and Cameron met through a mutual friend while they were both at college.

Much to Tyler's delight, in July last year, Cameron popped the question in a romantic proposal on Red Wharf Bay, on the Isle of Anglesey – a place that held particular meaning as it is her favourite beach.

Recalling the proposal, Tyler said:   'I felt very emotional and immediately started crying with happiness.

'We did start planning the wedding pretty much straight away, because we were both so excited and couldn't wait to start planning.

'We had a rough budget and we knew we wanted to keep it simple and not spend a fortune.' 

Although Tyler later tried on other dresses, she kept going back to the £15 gown. The dress required no alterations, with Tyler simply removing some frilled straps as she preferred the look without them.

Tyler has now advised any other brides looking for their dream dress to 'buy online, especially if you know what you want and if not, you can always sell it on or send it back'.

'This dress was the very first dress I tried on and I immediately fell in love with it, but I didn't want to jump straight at the first dress I saw,' she added. 

'I kept it to the side and tried other dresses too, but in the end I went with the original.

'I do feel wedding dresses are overpriced and that there is nothing wrong with going elsewhere.

'For me, it was about the day more than anything else. It definitely did allow us to spend more elsewhere.

'But our entire wedding was budget-friendly, with the majority of our stuff being from Shein or Vinted.'
