MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, US — A new quality management course from the Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) will help participants use the information they already collect to make decisions that improve quality, reduce risk and strengthen operational performance.

The Quality Management Systems for Bulk Materials Handling Operations is available on-demand through GEAPS’ Online Learning. Participants have 12 weeks after registration to complete the course, with an estimated completion time of seven hours.

“Facilities collect an incredible amount of data every day,” said Carley Snider, manager of GEAPS Learning and Development. “This course shows learners how to use that information to make informed decisions, identify opportunities for improvement, and support stronger operational outcomes.”

Designed for facility managers, location managers, quality professionals, supervisors and administrative personnel responsible for quality-related decision-making, the course focuses on practical application rather than quality theory. Through realistic scenarios, dashboards, reports and decision-making activities, learners develop the skills needed to use Quality Management Systems as tools for everyday operational success.

Throughout the course, learners explore the structure and components of an effective Quality Management System, evaluate procedures and documentation, interpret quality reports and performance trends, and apply QMS principles to real-world grain handling, storage, and processing situations.

The course also features introduction videos discussing topics including bioterrorism preparedness, regulatory compliance, inventory management, operational priorities, and measuring the return on investment of a Quality Management System. By the end of the course, participants will be better prepared to use operational data to anticipate risks, support traceability and compliance, drive continuous improvement and meet or exceed customer expectations.
