BLOOMINGTON, MINNESOTA, US — The Cereals & Grains Association’s (CGA) Chemistry, Quality and Technology Conference held Nov. 11-12 in Bloomington, Minnesota, brings together cereal and grain scientists, technical leaders, laboratory professionals and experts to collaborate, analyze and troubleshoot the advancements shaping the industry. 

“The cereals and grains industry stands at a critical juncture, navigating complex challenges from climate resilience and supply chain optimization to evolving consumer demands for healthier, more sustainably produced food,” said Lauren Brewer, senior R&D manager at General Mills and CGA board president.

This year’s theme, “From Kernel to Consumer: Connecting Grain Science, Processing Technology and Food System Transparency,” focuses on the belief that effective solutions emerge from understanding the entire value chain.

“At our 2026 conference, we are not just observing these issues; we are actively creating a platform designed to confront them head-on, fostering a holistic approach to progress,” Brewer said. “We intentionally convene leading experts from across the spectrum — industry, academia and government — to bridge the gaps between grain science, processing technology and the critical need for food system transparency.”

Attendees can expect technical sessions covering laboratory practices, process optimization and American Association of Cereal Chemists (now known as CGA) Approved Methods of Analysis applicable to real-world settings, as well as presentations, abstracts and posters showcasing the latest research, analytical methods and testing techniques. Several structured and unstructured networking breaks and mentorship opportunities are also available.

“By looking at the science across the market value chain, the meeting delivers the knowledge attendees need for proactive, efficient quality management so they can continue producing the foods that consumers love,” said Jayne Bock, technical director at Wheat Marketing Center and CGA program team member.

The conference reinforces CGA’s role as a hub for building a collaborative, future-focused community, Brewer said. 

“It is not merely a one-time gathering but a catalyst for ongoing collaboration,” she noted. “By aligning stakeholders around shared challenges — whether it’s optimizing grain quality, improving processing efficiency or building consumer trust through greater transparency — we collectively advance the field.”
