Looking radiant in a floor-length purple gown, the Princess of Wales turned heads at the world premiere of Tom Cruise's 'Digger' on Tuesday.

Kate, 44, oozed elegance in a gorgeous Jenny Packham ensemble for the star-studded red carpet appearance in London's Leicester Square, where she was joined by the Prince of Wales.

With her long brunette locks styled in a half-up look, the future queen paired her rich purple gown with the Queen Mother's historic amethyst necklace, proving that the royal shade is definitely her colour. 

But this is far from the first time Kate has captivated in an all-purple look. Over the years, she has stepped out in everything from rich plum suits and deep violet blouses to breezy lilac dresses and lavender drop earrings, many of which have created some of her most memorable style moments. 

While Kate makes every shade of purple look effortless, fashion experts consider the colour notoriously tricky to wear due to its association with royalty, its ability to overpower outfits and an undertone sensitivity that can clash with select skin tones. 

However, finding your perfect shade is easy when you use the Princess of Wales' all-purple looks for inspiration. 

The best part? These high-street versions look every bit as glamorous and chic as her royal wardrobe - without the designer price tag.

Kate was a vision in purple on the star-studded red carpet as she stepped out in Jenny Packham's Grape Cutout Pleated Silk-Chiffon Gown from the esteemed designer's Fall/Winter 2016 collection.

While the designer's runway piece, estimated to have cost between £3,500 and £5,000, is no longer available to buy, fans can find the next best thing on the high street at a fraction of the price. 

Chicwish offers up a stunning asymmetrical chiffon maxi dress in a dark plum colour for just £56, while Pamela's Boutique has a glittering version of Kate's dress for less than £70, reduced from £100.95.  

The Princess of Wales demonstrated her thrifty approach to dressing by re-wearing an Alexander McQueen coat as she joined Prince William at a Welsh community event ahead of St David's Day in February 2026. 

Kate teamed the stylish burgundy number with her merlot Gianvito Rossi leather boots, both of which she wore in 2024 during the Qatar state visit, as well as her matching ME+EM pussy bow blouse and her £570 CO pleated midi skirt.

She's not the only fan of the blouse, either. Cat Deeley wore the same blouse with matching trousers while presenting This Morning back in November 2025, proving its broad appeal.

The Princess of Wales caught the court's collective gaze as she made her way to the Royal Box on Centre Court for the Wimbledon men's singles final in July 2024. 

She selected Safiyaa's 'Cecilia' dress, an exquisite lilac crepe design with a fit-and-flare silhouette, which complemented both the Princess and Wimbledon's official colours.

Kate wore a custom version of the label's Cecilia dress, which was modified with an altered neckline, cap sleeves, elegant bodice draping, and a flowing, ankle-grazing skirt. 

The original dress is currently on sale for £1,295, but for those who'd rather look for a cost-saving alternative can look to Beulah, which offers an uncanny version for more than half the price at £750, or Club L for a similar frock that costs less than £100. 

Kate showcased her affinity for colour in a striking plum Emilia Wickstead suit that she has worn publicly on two occasions: first in September 2021 during a visit to Londonderry, and again in 2023 for the inaugural Shaping Us National Symposium.

It is believed that Kate commissioned the suit directly from the designer. It appeared on the runway during the autumn/winter 2021 show, but was not offered as part of the ready-to-wear collection.

The sartorial masterpiece, combining elegance and modernity, comprised a double-breasted blazer and straight-leg trousers. 

In a subtle nod to sustainability, the Princess opted to rewear her burgundy Roland Mouret suit for an official visit to Charing Cross Hospital in January.

This marked the fifth time Kate has worn the ensemble. 

Her blazer boasted a sleek silhouette with flap pockets strategically placed to accentuate the hip curve. 

Meanwhile, the wide-leg trousers provided a welcome spin on traditional suiting, offering a relaxed yet structured appearance. 

Kate has styled her £1,200 suit with contrasting pieces, pairing it with a white Holland Cooper bodysuit before swapping it for a burgundy ME+EM blouse.
