Overnight lows will fall into the low to mid 60s.

We started Friday morning with temperatures in the upper 50s for our NE counties and the rest of the Panhandle started in the 60s. Northeast winds will keep temperatures cooler than they would normally be for late September along with low level stratus clouds for the first half of the day. Highs should range from the upper 70s to low 80s across much of the area.

Winds will begin to weaken Friday evening as high pressure builds over the Southeast. With lighter winds and clear skies, temperatures could drop quickly Friday night. Most areas should see lows in the upper 50s to low 60s.

Saturday looks warm, sunny and dry, with afternoon highs reaching the mid 80s. Humidity will be unusually low, with dew points falling into the 40s and 50s.

Because the area has been fairly dry recently, the combination of warm temperatures, low humidity and dry vegetation could lead to elevated fire concerns Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Use extra caution with outdoor burning and anything that could spark a fire.

Saturday night could once again turn quite cool, especially across eastern areas, although increasing high clouds from the west may limit how much temperatures drop.

The weather pattern will gradually change next week as high pressure moves east and winds turn more southerly. This will bring warmer temperatures back to the area, with highs climbing into the upper 80s to low 90s.

Humidity will also increase, although it should remain below typical summer levels. Overnight lows will return to the 60s and low 70s.

Rain chances will begin to increase around the middle of next week as another weather system develops to our west.

Winds will gradually decrease throughout this Friday and through the weekend as high pressure settles over the Southeast.
