A top-tier 16-bit puzzle treasure

I absolutely love Kirby's Super Star Stacker and can't believe I haven't written about it yet so put on your thinking cap and let's get puzzlin'.

Kirby's Super Star Stacker is a classic SNES game that's available with a basic Nintendo Switch Online subscription. 🎮

This is the most epic battle with King Dedede yet

After enjoying the super-fun Kirby's Star Stacker on Game Boy for decades, I actually had no idea that a Super NES version was released exclusively in Japan. As soon as I found out, I jumped right in and couldn't believe how much better of a game it is. In fact, I included it in my Top 10 Super Nintendo Puzzle Games and that says a lot because the SNES has some truly timeless classics in the genre. 🏆 v1d30chumz zbcyzbqyzwyztq

Right off the bat, the adorable title screen animation put a huge smile on my face and the visuals really pop with adorable gorgeously-animated sprites that are very much in-line with Kirby's Dream Land 3 which makes sense because they released only a few months apart. Not only does this Super NES follow-up look much better, it's also fully featured with plenty of modes and easy-to-set-up multiplayer matches so it's the definitive way to play Star Stacker for sure. ⭐

So, how is Kirby's Super Star Stacker played? It's all about matching tiles of iconic animal chums from the Kirby universe (Rick 🐹, Coo 🦉, and Kine 🐟); simple! If 2 of the same familiar Kirby character tiles touch, they disappear. Where it gets complicated is that you can place stars between them and if you make a vertical or horizontal match with stars in-between, those stars disappear, too. Considering many of the modes rely on collecting these stars, setting up your playfield strategically becomes crucial, especially in the vs. modes as activating chains as the tiles cascade down will push your opponent's playfield up accordingly. Definitely keep those middle columns clear, chums! The resulting formula is impressively unique and an absolute ton of fun so I'm sure you'll enjoy what it has to offer! 🥳

It's amazing how unique Kirby's Super Star Stacker is and very few games (if any) have tried to emulate it. Besides playing with a chum which is the most amount of fun you can have in any retro puzzler, I especially enjoy story mode which is filled with adorable cutscenes of the familiar cast and it gets so incredibly tough that it's just awesome, haha! I also love how you can choose from many characters and the backgrounds change with adorable sprites in the middle that react to all the onscreen shenanigans. It's such a cute and fun game! 🌟

I'm definitely feeling the pressure with this clock in-place
