Police are searching for a woman who was caught on camera dumping a huge bag of trash into a scenic duck pond at a public park in Canada. 

The unidentified woman has been accused of pouring plastic packaging into public spaces in Abbotsford, a picturesque town close to the United States border. 

Detectives said the woman was caught dumping waste in at least two spots over the summer - the duck pond at Mill Lake Park, and close to Bluejay Elementary School.

Abbotsford Police (Abby PD) began investigating the serial litterbug after videos were posted online of her polluting the park pond in late July. 

Filmed from across the water, the first video shows the woman standing on a bridge and throwing discarded items into the pond below. 

'She's throwing trash in the water from the bridge,' the person filming can be heard saying. 

'She just shook her bag out,' another person nearby fumed moments later. 'She just shook her entire Dollar Store bag off the edge!' 

The person who exposed the woman's dirty antics shared the video on social media, while writing in a caption that she felt 'disgusted to say the least'. 

A second video shows her tracking down the woman before confronting her about what she did. 

'Excuse me, you do realize how inappropriate it is to throw trash in the water like that?' the whistleblower can be heard saying. 

The woman appeared to deny dumping any trash, but the person filming responded: 'We saw you do it from across the lake - we have proof.' 

'There's wildlife in the water, and you're dumping trash,' she added, before the woman said, 'don't talk to me,' while rapidly walking away. 

The whistleblower shared images of the aftermath - showing ugly plastic packaging floating among ducks and lily-pads in the pond. 

She also shared a photograph of a Dollar Store receipt found among the debris, showing that the woman had purchased gummy candy and glass pebbles. 

Abby PD said it is 'aware of videos circulating on social media showing a woman being recorded and confronted for dumping garbage at local parks and waterways'. 

'Abby PD is currently looking into these incidents and has reached out directly to the individuals who posted the videos online to obtain additional information,' the department added. 

'The two incidents are believed to have occurred in late July at Mill Lake Park and, more recently, near Bluejay Elementary School.

'Incidents of this nature are unacceptable and can have a significant impact on our parks, waterways, and community spaces.'

Abby PD urged anyone who witnesses dumping incidents to report them directly to police as soon as possible. 

'Timely reporting helps to ensure relevant information can be gathered and appropriate follow-up can occur,' the department said.

Abbotsford is a picturesque city home to about 180,000 people. It is located in British Columbia, just over the border from Washington state. 

In British Columbia, the penalty for dumping rubbish in public spaces can range from a $150 to $10,000 fine for petty offenses, and up to $3 million or imprisonment for any littering which causes severe environmental damage.
