A traffic enforcer displayed compassion after letting a motorist, who was reportedly mute, continue on his way after being apprehended for a traffic violation. 

Recently, the Facebook page K5 News FM Iloilo 88.7 shared a photo of the traffic enforcer showing consideration toward the motorist. The post quickly went viral and received various reactions from the online community. 

According to the report, the incident happened along Washington Street in Jaro, Iloilo City, at around 9:00 p.m. on September 23. A motorcycle carrying three people was flagged down by a traffic enforcer after being spotted committing traffic violations. 

Authorities reportedly stopped the motorcycle because it was overloaded and one of the passengers was not wearing a helmet. These are common traffic violations that can put the safety of riders and other road users at risk. 

As the traffic enforcer began asking questions, he noticed that the three individuals on the motorcycle were only communicating through hand gestures. The driver and passengers appeared unable to respond verbally, leading the enforcer to believe that they might be mute. 

The traffic enforcer then tried to communicate with them using gestures as well. He asked for the driver’s license and a Person with Disability (PWD) identification card to better understand their situation. However, the group was unable to present any of the requested documents. 

Despite the violations and the lack of identification, the enforcer remained calm and continued trying to communicate with them. After assessing the situation, he eventually decided to let them go instead of issuing a citation. 

The internet users pointed out the importance of following traffic rules regardless of a person’s condition, especially when it comes to wearing helmets and avoiding overloading on motorcycles.
