A speeding car fell from the Coastal Road in Mumbai early on Sunday (September 20, 2026), resulting in the death of three students and injuring another student.

The police stated that the incident took place at around 5 a.m. The car was moving north from Marine Drive, when the driver lost control owing to high speed. The BMW struck the outer wall of the Coastal Road before the fall about 75 feet.

The police has identified the dead as Sanay Gujjar (21), Aditya Jakasania (19), and Dhairya Sheth (17). Gujjar was reportedly at the wheel. The injured student has been identified as Aditya Oswal (23). He is receiving treatment at the Nair Hospital, and his condition is said to be critical.

Meena Jagtap, Senior Inspector at the Tardeo police station said, “It appears that the car was travelling at a very high speed. Due to the speed, the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car hit the outer wall of the Coastal Road and then fell nearly 75 feet, killing three students and injuring another.”

Gujjar, Oswal and Sheth were studying BBA at a management college in Vile Parle. Gujjar was from Ahmedabad. He had been staying in Mumbai as a paying guest. The BMW belonged to Gujjar’s family.
