MOSCOW, September 23. /TASS/. The upcoming winter could lead Ukraine into irreversible processes that would prevent it from recovering, Oleg Popenko, the head of the Ukrainian Union of Utility Consumers has warned.

"The upcoming winter will be, if not the last for Ukraine, then one that could trigger irreversible processes. We won't be able to recover. We have no money today. Preparations for the heating season have completely failed. We haven't equipped apartment buildings with backup power sources, and preparations for the heating season in the private housing sector haven't been carried out at all. How can the state and the entire system get through the winter under these conditions?" he said on the Superposition YouTube channel.

Last winter, Ukraine experienced prolonged power and heating outages due to damage to energy infrastructure. Authorities fear that the scale of damage to the energy sector will increase and that this winter could prove even more difficult. Ukrainian Prime Minister Sergey Koretsky stated that the upcoming winter poses the greatest challenge for the country. In light of this, the Verkhovna Rada has advised Ukrainians to stock up on water and firewood.
