Tyrese Gibson has had all charges against him dismissed nearly one year after an incident involving his four Mastiff dogs, which allegedly killed his neighbor’s dog, according to his attorney. 

In October 2025, he was booked at the Fulton County Jail in Georgia and was charged with one count of cruelty to animals, along with a misdemeanor dog-at-large charge and a nuisance charge, as indicated by online jail records and Fulton County court documents.

Documents reviewed by People show that he was arrested and released on the same day after posting a $20,000 surety bond.

On September 8, Gibson’s lawyer, Gabe Banks, confirmed in a statement to People that all charges against Gibson had been dropped.

Banks wrote in the statement, “Tyrese welcomes the State’s dismissal of the charges and is grateful to his family, friends, and fans for their unwavering support throughout this process. As he moves forward, Tyrese remains focused on his work, his family, and continuing to show love and support to his community.”

The incident took place on September 18, 2025, when police received a 911 call from Harrison Parker, who lives across from the actor’s mansion in Buckhead, as reported by Fox5 Atlanta.

Parker mentioned that he had left his dog, a 5-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, in the yard with an invisible fence but found him dead shortly after, according to WSB-TV 2.

Authorities claimed that Gibson’s Cane Corso dogs attacked the smaller spaniel, as stated by Fox 5 Atlanta. The dogs were allegedly loose in the neighborhood during the incident, according to 11 Alive.

On September 22, 2025, police executed a search warrant at Gibson’s home and issued an arrest warrant for animal cruelty, but he and the dogs were not present, per Fox5 Atlanta.

In a statement on September 30, 2025, Banks said that Gibson offered condolences to his neighbor’s family and made the “difficult decision” to find a new home for the dogs.

“Mr. Tyrese Gibson extends his deepest condolences to the family who lost their beloved dog to this tragic incident that occurred while Mr. Gibson was away from his home,” said Banks. “Upon learning of this unfortunate accident, Mr. Gibson immediately made the difficult decision to rehome his dogs to a safe and loving environment.”

Banks also said that Gibson was “cooperating fully” with the investigation and that he had turned himself in to authorities on Oct. 3, 2025.
