The fourth monthly-ish snapshot of Ubuntu 26.10 "Stonking Stingray" is now available for testing and comes ahead of next week's Ubuntu 26.10 beta milestone.

While there continues to be the daily ISOs produced of Ubuntu 26.10, Canonical continues with these monthly "snapshots" to help with their release/build automation processes. The Stonking Snapshot 4 was just announced by Canonical's Utkarsh Gupta and given the close proximity to Ubuntu 26.10 beta next week, it will be quite similar to those artifacts.

Ubuntu 26.10 is on the Linux 7.2 kernel, featuring the latest GNOME 51 desktop components, Mesa 26.2 graphics drivers, and a wealth of other updates over Ubuntu 26.04 LTS. Plus the transition to Rust Coreutils is complete for Ubuntu 26.10. Ubuntu 26.10 performance is looking quite good at this point.

Ubuntu 26.10 beta is due for release on 24 September, the kernel freeze is on 1 October, the final freeze on 8 October, and then Ubuntu 26.10 stable should be out on 15 October.
