Enzo Fernandez told Chelsea that his relationship with the changing room was broken and beyond repair as he pushed for his Manchester City move, Stamford Bridge insiders have claimed.

In further revelations, it is also said the 25-year-old Argentine communicated with his club how he had been speaking privately with his former head coach, Enzo Maresca, and that he submitted two written transfer requests before finally securing his £125million switch on deadline day.

Daily Mail Sport attempted to contact Fernandez's representative, Javier Pastore, for a response to these claims concerning his client on Friday afternoon.

The news came as Chelsea announced a new deal for Pedro Neto, partially as a reward for his loyalty with City having also shown interest in the 26-year-old Portuguese over the summer.

Unlike Fernandez, who failed to agree an extension with Chelsea despite engaging in talks previously, Neto showed a willingness to stay. The winger has now been handed a six-year contract, which involves five years with the option of the sixth, and a pay rise.

Neto follows Joao Pedro, Reece James, Moises Caicedo and Cole Palmer in likewise securing improved terms. Others are expected to follow in the coming weeks and months, with Levi Colwill among those in line for a bump.

Neto has impressed under new manager Xabi Alonso this season, having primarily been used as a wing back and scoring two goals in five games across all competitions.

Alonso spoke highly of him at his pre-Hull press conference on Friday, describing him as having multiple 'qualities' and that he 'connects well' with his team-mates.

Chelsea previously held talks with Fernandez and his camp about his own contract boost, but unlike his peers, an agreement was never able to be reached.

Fernandez's relationship with Chelsea became particularly strained last season when he openly flirted with Real Madrid – with the vice-captain suspended by his own club for two games for those comments.

Real went on to release a statement insisting they were not interested in Fernandez.

However, City never gave up on securing him in the summer despite it being left until the final two days of the window, when the £125m deal was done in order for Maresca to land his top target.

The Argentina international is now set to take part in his first Manchester derby this Sunday.
