A British Airways flight from Barbados was cancelled after its crew reportedly enjoyed a wild party at a £500-a-night honeymoon resort the night before.

One stewardess is said to have thrown up in the bar and another steward to have collapsed and been taken to bed during the almighty beer and vodka session.

Up to 336 passengers with tickets for the flight, which was due to leave at 4:40pm on Sunday and arrive in the UK at 6:20am on Monday, found themselves stranded in the capital Bridgetown as the crew sobered up.

Some had encountered their prospective airline hosts on the Saturday night and began filming the group, who apparently slurred back: 'We're British Airways crew, what of it?'

Airline bosses were forced to completely cancel Flight BA254 after the ill-timed bash was brought to their attention.

They have suspended four of the BA staff involved while they investigate.

A source told The Sun: 'One of the perks of working as flight crew for BA is staying at incredible hotels in far-flung destinations.

'And the team who had flown into Barbados were making the most of their stay at an idyllic retreat where the guests are all made up of honeymooners and families on a trip-of-a-lifetime.

'Some of this crew behaved in a manner that did not befit British Airways. The vodka and beers kept being poured and some of the team were clearly drunk.'

After being stood down from the flight, the entire crew had to be sent home as passengers over the next few days.

The four suspended crew members are understood to have arrived back in the UK in the early hours of Tuesday.

It's thought the humiliating cancellation could come at great cost to the airline if its partnership with the luxury resort breaks down, and it is forced to negotiate new accommodation.

British Airways told the Daily Mail: 'We expect the highest standards of our crew, and are urgently investigating this matter.'
