The purpose of this evaluation was to identify programme's effectiveness and the continued relevance of EcoSec interventions implemented in Cameroon from 2019 to 2024.

The evaluation found that the objectives of the EcoSec programme are closely aligned with the needs of targeted populations. This is true even as these needs vary sharply, depending on the region covered. The scale of needs far exceeds the capacity of the programme, which makes prioritisation especially critical. 

The three main pillars of the EcoSec programme form a coherent range of activities. This is true even as these activities are often conducted independently of each other, and do not always contribute to the same geographically circumscribed outcomes. Given the strong diversity of environments in which it operates, the ability of the programme to achieve a broad range of differentiated outcomes is an asset, as it enables the programme to be adaptive and context appropriate. 

In both the Far North and NWSW, there is strong evidence that the EcoSec programme has markedly and meaningfully improved conditions for the target population.

A total of 6 recommendations were suggested to consolidate the program in case of further downsizing of the programme, including on community participation, beneficiary selection, community messaging, workflow streamlining or operational planning.
