Nearly 300 additional regional awards given to more than 90 NPR Member organizations

From the election of a new pope to the dismantling of immigration courts, from the sounds of war to the growing stakes of artificial intelligence, NPR's journalism over the past year has taken audiences inside some of the biggest stories of the moment and uncovered new ones along the way.

We do this work in partnership with NPR Member organizations, together making up the NPR Network. As a collective, we've now earned 38 2026 National Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association, spanning breaking news, digital journalism, innovation, sound, writing, feature reporting, equity & inclusion, and news series categories. Nearly 300 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards were awarded to more than 90 NPR Member organizations across the country.

That combination of national reach and deep local reporting is one of the NPR Network's greatest strengths. Across NPR and our Member stations, journalists cover stories rooted in communities and informed by expertise, while sharing reporting and insights that resonate with audiences far beyond where a story begins.

Together, these honors reflect what NPR Network journalists do at their best: respond quickly as history unfolds, find new ways to uncover information, and use sound and storytelling to bring audiences closer to the people and events shaping our world.

Awards are, of course, only one measure of the value of journalism. But these honors are a meaningful recognition of the care, persistence, and creativity that go into this work every day. Congratulations to the reporters, editors, and producers who made this journalism possible — and to our colleagues across media whose outstanding work was recognized this year.
