HoYoverse had revealed Honkai: Star Rail's Version 4.5 update, "To Roll the Stars in Astropolis," during a livestream on August 14, 2026. The patch goes live globally on August 26 for PC, PlayStation 5, iOS, and Android, picking up the story with a trip to Astropolis, two alternate character variants, a new racing event, and a dialogue speed toggle for cutscenes and quest conversations.

Following the Express Crew's victory over Lord Ravager Asat Pramad in Planarcadia, the Voracity plunges the region back into crisis. To find the strength needed to help Planarcadia survive, the Trailblazer departs for Astropolis, a key Interastral Peace Corporation stronghold in the Epsilon system that doubles as the IPC's entertainment headquarters and its executives' vacation resort of choice. The story combines political maneuvering through the IPC's upper hierarchy with a summer vacation alongside Robin and Aventurine, unfolding sometime after the events in Planarcadia conclude.

Robin Summeretto debuts as a 5-star Wind character on the Path of Remembrance. Having taken over the Oak Family since Sunday's departure from Penacony, she secretly uses her time in Astropolis to investigate Gopher Wood's legacy. In battle, she sings alongside her memosprite bird band, buffing the team while accumulating Vibes from allies' actions, building toward a Fever Pitch state that strengthens further the more often her allies act.

Aventurine Waveflair, a 5-star Quantum character on the Path of Elation, leans into a surfer and beach volleyball aesthetic while quietly working to confirm his suspicions about a traitor among the Ten Stonehearts. The first-half Event Warp pairs the limited 5-star Light Cone "Rise and Sing" and 4-star Light Cone "A Little Getaway" with a rerun banner for Hyacine. Aventurine and his signature Light Cone, "Summer Rides the Surf," follow in the second half alongside a rerun for Ashveil.

The headline event, "Overdrive: Whirlwind Grand Prix," puts the Trailblazer in charge of a racing crew as team principal. Version 4.5 also adds the "Minuscule Great Adventure" stage event, a Divergent Universe refresh, and the returning "Planar Fissure" and "Realm of the Strange" double-drop events.
